Choices About Cookies

The editorial pages are designed to work without advertising trackers or stored contact drafts.

Cookies and related technologies

Cookies are small values a website can ask a browser to store and return with later requests. Local storage is a separate browser facility that can retain information between visits. Session storage normally lasts for the current browsing session. These technologies can support essential functions, remember preferences or enable tracking, depending on their purpose.

Ordinary browser caching of page files is different from using identifiers to track a reader. Browsers may also retain history, autofill details or restored form content according to the settings on your device.

No analytics or advertising scripts

The editorial page code does not set cookies or use local storage or session storage. It contains no analytics, advertising scripts, social embeds or third-party font requests. Navigation and reading do not depend on accepting optional tracking.

The contact tool keeps the draft in the current page only. “Copy text” writes to the clipboard when your browser allows it. “Download text” creates a file on your device. Neither action sends the draft to us. Clipboard contents, saved files and browser autofill are under your device’s controls rather than this website’s storage controls.

Any separate site-level consent interface manages only the technologies identified in that interface. Optional technologies requiring consent must remain disabled until you choose them. No optional technology is required by the editorial functions described here.

Manage data on your device

Your browser’s privacy or site-data settings let you inspect and remove cookies and other stored website data. You can also restrict third-party cookies and clear browsing information. The names and locations of these settings vary by browser. Removing site data may reset preferences managed by a separate consent interface.

Clearing website storage does not delete text files you downloaded, messages you sent through your email service or information already on your clipboard. Remove those separately if needed. External websites linked from our articles have their own cookie and privacy practices.

Read the privacy notice for information about correspondence and technical access data. Questions can be sent to [email protected]. We will revise this notice if the storage used by these editorial pages changes.
