Independent botanical reading
Our Botanical Perspective
We look at the space between the growing bench and the restaurant pass: where a plant’s needs meet a kitchen’s expectations.
01 — Our remit
Useful curiosity, carefully bounded.
Clevercometjolt is an independent information website about restaurants growing rare herbs and edible plants on-site. We write for chefs considering a collection, growers learning the rhythm of service and botanical enthusiasts interested in how unusual plants become useful ingredients.
Our starting point is practical: what does the kitchen need, and what conditions make that need realistic? We follow the question through selection, growing space, harvest and stewardship. We do not sell plants, approve ingredients, certify food businesses or operate a restaurant directory.
02 — Our method
Separate the questions that need separate answers.
Identity before interest
A compelling flavour description does not establish the plant’s identity. Botanical names, provenance and competent checks come first.
Food safety before freshness claims
On-site growing can shorten a journey, but it does not remove hazards. We distinguish horticultural quality from food-safety controls.
Evidence before environmental claims
Local growing is a location, not a complete impact assessment. We encourage records of resources and usable harvest.
03 — Sources and corrections
A living subject needs revisable notes.
We link to botanical institutions, food authorities and primary legal references where they help readers check a point. A source may support one narrow claim without supporting every possible use of a plant. Named organisations are references, not sponsors or endorsements.
Plant names, regulations and guidance can change. Our articles are general educational material, not personalised horticultural, legal, medical or food-safety advice. Consult qualified professionals and the relevant authority for decisions affecting a business or a person’s health.
If you find an error, send the page address, the wording in question and a reliable supporting source. Please do not send an unidentified plant for remote approval or use the contact channel for urgent safety advice.
